Band Concert

Someone once told me,
Learning to play an instrument
helps making learning in school
much easier...No lie.
So when it was time for my big boi
to pick electives for the school year,
I talked him into a music class
learning to play the trumpet..
I'm such a pushy mom..hehe
Being the good son that he is,
he gave in and signed up
and now he really enjoys it.
Thats the dork in him..hehe
I love that he can read music now
And tries to play everything with music notes
even from the Hymn book
I love listening to him try to play
The Spirit of God
Army of Helaman
and soooo forth
Its such a joy to watch him play
and love it
Tonite we attended his school band concert
I was dreading it..lol
but after hearing them play
i could not stop smiling
i was amazed at their progression
I felt sooo proud
When I figure it out,
I'll add a video..

Meet Mr Crane Fly

Meet my babygirl and her science project the "Crane Fly".
For several weeks she had to do research on her insect.
We visited the library and checked out several insect books.  However, none of them had anything on Mr Crane..haha  Guess we should have checked it before we took them home.
Of course, good ol' Mr Internet would have all the info she would need.
Printed out info galore on her insect and had learn and study her insect.
She put together her report (on the back of her board)
With the help of daddy created Mr Crane with clay.
Labeled each body part.
Turned project in and also had to present her project to her class.
I'm sooo proud of her.  She was really excited for her project and got good remarks and feedback from her teacher.
She loved doing this project.  And was amazed at all her friends projects.  Some students made their insect from a cake, cupcake, marshmallows, foam etc.. Creative young minds.

Temple Square

Our Beehives class activity this month was at the Temple Square.
It was a scavenger hunt.
Listen to the message at the Christus.
Go through the God's Plan for Family presentation.
Learn more about the Tabernacle.
Listened to the Mo-Tab choir practice.
Talk with the sister missionaries about why they chose to serve.
Watch a short film at the visitor center.
Go to the top floor of the JS building to the restaurant. Find info.
Where and what is written on the temple.
And sooo forth...
We had a good time.
The girls were loved the messages shared there.
Was reminded of the importance of families.
Learned a few new things.
I could not believe what I've been missing out on.
I live 5 minutes away and never taka a minute to check it out.
It definitely will be a good family night out location.
I love my calling and being able to serve the young women.
The Beehives are a fun group of girls.
They make my calling easy to do.
I love their excitement with everything we do and learn.
And the sweet spirit they bring into all that we do.
Forgot the camera in the car...Boo me!!!

Zumba...What!!!

Remember my "Yay Me" post,
Well I'm still going at it.
Been going several times a week to workout.
Been TRYING to change my eating ways.
Having a hard time there.
But working out is doing me some good.
So I hope I can keep it up and make a lifestyle change.
I started to do Zumba again too.
When I can.  Here locally in RP.
Well FINALLY I let my girls talk me into going to Bountiful.
I heard great things and heard it was hard work.
I love Zumba cause its pretty much dancing.
I use to LOVE to dance.
But then I got married and my husband doesn't dance..LOL
Anyhoo, I LOVED LOVED LOVED Teresa's class..
I love her moves
Even when I'm uncordinated and clumsy
I love the music
Pumping loud and hard
I love her energy she puts into it
She had every fat in my body jiggling. LOL
She had my stomach hurting cause it was soo intense.
She had me sweating in places I didn't realize I could sweat LOL
I felt like I just sweated 50 lbs off...I wish it were true. Hahaha
I LOVED it so much I'm already gonna go back.
Who ever thought up Zumba is a genius.

Small and simple with family and close friends.
Can't go wrong when you have good food (thanks GC) and family around.
Madi and her mom Rissa were totally surprised.  She had no clue.  I think hehe.
I even loved it that my dear aunty Ika was able to attend.
She's been sick and in the hospital the last couple months.
Madi will have a new outfit for everyday of the month.
She will have daipers to last her a lil while.
But most importantly, she will have love for a lifetime from those around.

Cooking with the YW

Cooking is always a last minute activity we tend to do when all else fails.  But this time around we decided we would have the girls do everything.  From start to finish.  No help from the leaders at all.  We wanted to give them a chance to cook a full course meal in hope that one day they can take what they've learned and cook for their family.  I know for me personally, I didn't cook until I was 21 years old and didn't have mommy there to cook for me..  Sad isn't it.  I hope the girls won't wait til then but take every opportunity to give their moms & dads a break from cooking.

The Laurels had the main dish.  They made baked french onion chicken.
The Miamaids had salad and appetizer.  They tossed together a green salad and made a layered dip.
The Beehives had dessert.  Made peach cobbler served with vanilla ice cream.  I totally slacked and missed out on a piece of peach cobbler.  Snooze you lose..sucks to be me!
Thanks girls for working together and putting together a delicioso meal.

Piano Recital

We attended Babygirls first piano recital today. She has been taking lessons for several months now.  Today was her first parent recital.  We were sooo lucky to find a teacher so close to home as her teachers before were in Highland.  When that got to be too far, we tried West Valley.  And well I didn't like her teacher there..LOL.  Her teacher now is an older wiser lady in our stake.  A friend of mine referred us and I'm happy to report, I love her teacher and will hope to stick with her for as long as need be.
They had 15 kids play.  All levels of talent varied.  I was amazed at all the talent.  I had to laugh when my daughter got up and started to play "Twinkle Twinkle Lil Star" as one of her pieces...hehehe.  But I know with time and practice she'll be up there playing amazingly well as everyone.  I'm sooo happy she is taking piano and really enjoying it.  I hope she will learn to play well and share her talent wherever she can.

It really is over....buh bye basketball

My big boi's team had there last game of the season today. They played 2 games at 9 and 10. Talk about early being they usually play late afternoons at 3 or 4. We got up early to do baptisms so I was dead tired. But excited it was the last games. Game started out slow. And seem to get even slower. Finally the boys realized the first game was over in a minute and they were down by 7. Last minute they got close and ended up losing by 2 points. So come game 2 the boys wasn't having it and started the game out scoring and scoring and eventually won by 17 points. Big boi was on cloud 9 as he scored 8 points the most he's had all season..haha.
When asked what his favorite part of Jr Jazz, he'll say..'the moment he makes a shout and just being able to play with his buddies'. I love Jr Jazz but I love it even more that its come to an end for now..haha.

V-Day fun!

While dating my boo spoiled me rotten. He always made me feel special. Especially with gifts and such. He'd send flowers, teddy bears, even a couple of singing telegrams...buy clothes, shoes..the whole nine yard. I loved it. Of course that isn't the only reason why I married him..LOL. Anyhoo after we married and on our first v-day he sent me beautiful long stem roses to work. They were beautiful full bloomed roses of several dozens in a huge vase. I was ecstactic and so awww'd by it on the outside. But inside I'm wondering how much money he wasted on this. I know, I'm soo off. Seriously I was. We were just married under a year and have bills now..ya know. Of course being the pooper I am, that was the first thing that came out of my mouth when he picked me up that day from work. Not a good thing. His feeling were hurt. Boo me. Of course I eventually thanked him for the flowers and told him I loved him and yadadadadadee and still ended the day on a nice beat. But from then on, he vowed not to ever do that again. Not for me, but because I was sooo unappreciative. Boo me. Oh well I live and learn. And I am ok he doesn't do those things for me. Its not just his money he's using, its our money...hehehe. So since then, if we celebrate..we just celebrate with dinner but no gifts unless its something we both buy together.

So this V-day of course we aren't making any advance plans or e
ven going out to dinner or anything. But two weeks ago we got an invite made by my sis Rissa of our family date nite which she planned for Valentine's weekend. Worked perfect for us since we didn't have anything planned. Got a babysitter for my kids and off we went. We all met up at Tucanos for dinner. All 26 of us. Glad my sis made reser
vations cause it was pretty crowded. The food of course was muy delicioso. The servers were friendly and trying to be funny hahaha. I love that place mo
re and more each time I go. The company was fun and the food was delicious. They gave each couple chocolate covere
d strawberries and roses for us before we checked out. We ended
the night working off all that food we had eaten playing some volleyball and basketball with everyone. Simple and fun night with my husband and everyone else. I love my husband and my family..

Babygirl final Jr Jazz game of year..

Ooh its been a long fun season of basketball for my lil babygirl. I started out the season dreading it and not looking forward to weekly practices and weekly games. But with my Honey coaching her team this year, it wasn't bad at all. She played with several of her good friends and cousins and had a fun time. I had a fun time. It was awesome to watch them grow on and off the court. All of them have learned and progressed alot this year. Not bragging or anything (hahaha), its a good thing they didn't keep score cause it would have been embarassing for the other team. Ok, anyhoo...we had a good team and mostly because they all meshed well with each other.

I asked Daze what she loved about Jr Jazz, this is what she said "Its fun. My favorite part is playing defense."

Another good fun season done with. We have a month to relax before spring softball starts...YAY.

Welcome baby MADISYN LEFETAUI TUINEI

Its a happy joy joy day for our family. My sis Rissa and her husband Va'a welcomed home their baby girl Madi.. I'm soooo happy for them. She is precious and I know they will be awesome parents. She is gonna be one spoiled lil diva. Just make sure to keep her away from Jerzy LOL.. They are soooo excited to have her home. Va'a I swear will not put her down even when he don't need to be smothering her...hahaha Every lil noise she makes he looks to be sure she is ok. Its the cutest thing. Rissa tries to pretend that she won't spoil her and all but I know she is just as excited to have her lil mama here with her. I can't help but smile at the site of the 3 of them together. I'm extremely happy for them. Congrats to the Tuinei family. We love you all.

RP15th Court of Honor

We had to pull ourselves from watching superbowl to attend our ward Court of Honor. It was the first that I've been to in our ward. Plus it was even more important for our family to be attendance as our son would be receiving several badges he has completed. I love our new scoutmaster (Kory Olsen) and assistant Ronnie and of course Kory's lovely wife Vi. They are really into what they do and go above and beyond to help our scouts learn and grow in the program.  My son looks forward to going to scouts each week and always has good things to report.  He is always learning from his weekly meetings.  I hope and pray he will continue to enjoy the scout program and will work hard to accomplish the highest rank of the scout, The Eagle..
I was amazed at all the young men in attendance and can tell they are learning from this awesome program.
Thank you to all those who make it possible.
Most of the troop with their leaders Ronnie and Kory
My bigboi (right) happy to be eating some sherbert LOL

Happy Superbowl XLIV

Speed Dating

I know what your thinking...Speed Dating. No not for me...hehe.. To go along with it being Valentines this month our young men leaders planned a speed dating activity for our youth combine this month. The youth had a great time getting to know each other better and finding out things about each other that they probably would have never known. We hope it helped them have confidence in themselves to talk to others and even of the opposite sex. Don't worry, we made sure everyone understood the importance of waiting til your 16 (actually 21 for samoans..lol) to date, dating in groups, dating those with high standards, dating to protect each others honor and virtue. Not getting serious with the first person you THINK you love (lol) etc. I know our youth kids enjoyed themselves and learned alot about each other and what to look for when they are of dating age. Another fun and spiritual activity to add to the books. I think this is one activity we need to have our YSA (Young Single Adults) do...hahahaha.
